Digital water management for sustainable irrigation
The first edition of the Summer School "Digital Water Management for Sustainable Irrigation" took place from 12 to 16 September 2022, at the BF Group headquarters in Jolanda di Savoia (Fe). It involved 24 participants and a partnership composed of the Universities of Parma, Bologna and Teramo, CREA - Research Centre for Agriculture and Environment, IBF Servizi SpA and Canale Emiliano Romagnolo.
Acknowledging the importance of irrigated agriculture for food security, the school indicates management strategies to improve water productivity within current agricultural systems. The methodologies for sustainable irrigation refer to digital agriculture. The school is held in English and provides the theoretical and operational elements to minimise the impact of drought and to increase the capacity of the soil to capture rainwater and store it for plants.
